✈️ A New Year. A New Vision.

Welcome to the London Met Aviation Society for 2026/27.

We are excited to begin a new academic year with a new management team, new ideas and an even bigger ambition for the London Met aviation community.

The Aviation Society is more than an academic society. While we support students studying aviation and related subjects, our doors are open to anyone who shares a passion for aviation — whether your interest lies in commercial aviation, private flying, aircraft, airports, airlines or simply a fascination with everything that takes to the skies.

This year, we're taking that passion further.

🌍 Experience Aviation Beyond the Classroom

Throughout 2026/27, we are planning an exciting programme of aviation trips, industry visits and experiences designed to take our members beyond lectures and into the world of aviation.

From visiting airports and aviation organisations to exploring historic aircraft and major aviation facilities, our goal is to give students the opportunity to see, experience and understand the industry first-hand.

We'll also be introducing opportunities to travel internationally, discover aviation in different countries and build memories with fellow Society members along the way.

🎙️ Coming Soon: The London Met Aviation Podcast

We're also working on something new.

The London Met Aviation Podcast will bring aviation conversations directly to our student community, giving members the opportunity to hear from people working across different areas of the industry.

We hope to speak with pilots, aviation professionals, engineers, airport and airline employees, academics and other people with interesting stories to tell.

Our aim is simple: to give students a different perspective on aviation and the careers available within it.

🚀 Project “Experience?”

One of our biggest ambitions for 2026/27 is Project “Experience?”

We've identified a frustrating problem facing many students and recent graduates: the so-called entry-level job that asks for previous industry experience.

For students trying to start their careers, this creates an obvious question:

How are you supposed to get experience when every opportunity requires you to already have it?

We want to challenge that cycle.

Through Project “Experience?”, we are working towards building relationships with aviation companies and industry organisations to create opportunities for our members to gain genuine experience — whether through internships, work experience, industry projects, placements or opportunities to apply for employment.

We don't want to simply tell students that experience is important.

We want to help create opportunities for them to gain it.

🤝 Building Our Aviation Community

Alongside our trips, careers initiatives and podcast, we want to build a stronger and more connected aviation community at London Met.

Whether you're a first-year student taking your first steps into aviation, a final-year student preparing for your career, someone interested in private flying, or simply someone who loves aircraft — there is a place for you in the Aviation Society.

This year is about experiencing more, connecting more and creating opportunities that extend beyond university.
